Sitter Spotlight: Anna Giarratano

Anna Giarratano is ready to help in any way she can. In her interview, the Call Emmy sitter and mom of three, explains how she got started with babysitting. She highlights her time as a babysitter at events and showcases her devotion to meeting the needs of children.
“I’ve helped out with some gigs with Call Emmy because I live in the mountains [of Colorado], “ she begins. “There were a couple of gigs that happened here. I have a full-time job, so this is a side gig that I help out with.”
Her first babysitting job, which happened a year ago, took her to Beaver Creek, Colorado, where she, along with other sitters, entertained and cared for a room full of kids for the day.
“There was an event at the Hyatt Hotel up at Beaver Creek, so I just helped out with the event childcare. It was fun hanging out and playing with the kids.”
At events, Anna babysits for a wide range of age groups. Referencing an event job, she says, “We had a variety of ages from babies to four months old to seven and eight-year-olds. Some of the older kids, you have to keep them engaged and have activities lined up for them. The babies… you don’t need to. Something that was really fun was hanging out with the older kids and holding the babies.”
Anna is an observant sitter who keeps a watchful eye on the children in her care. It’s one of her strengths. “I’m good at observing the room and seeing where there is a need.” If a child cries, she’s by their side, soothing and tending to them.
Being a mother is what gives her a special touch. “I am a mother of three, so I have some valuable background [insight] that I can bring to the job.”
When Anna takes a job, she often goes on nature walks with the kids to enjoy the crisp Colorado air. It’s a highlight of her work: taking them outside and letting them observe nature.
She recounts her adventures, saying, “It's nice because the couple of gigs I did were in May, and the kids loved it. Interacting with the kids and talking with them and playing with them, taking them out on nature walks…it was really fun.”
Appreciating nature comes naturally to Anna. She has a lifestyle fit for the Colorado landscape; biking, skiing and traveling are what keep her active and energized.
If she’s not spending time outdoors, she’s inside reading a book or watching a movie, adding, “Sometimes I cook and bake when I have the time.”
Speaking of the event gigs, Anna praises her Call Emmy team for their preparation. “Call Emmy was really good about supplying toys and games and puzzles and coloring books. They were setting up stations ─ one station is for arts and crafts and coloring.”
She continues, “They [Call Emmy] have these pop-up tents that the kids love playing in, along with a little kitchenette. There was a station with just Legos. I feel they do a really good job of having different stations set up, especially when you have a group of kids.”
So, what does Anna do after babysitting for Call Emmy? She says, "I usually help pack things up and put stuff away in their bins, and we [The Call Emmy team] will have a discussion… conversations on what I observed.”
Anna is a thoughtful sitter who is patient and considerate with the kids she babysits. Her attentive nature means parents can relax knowing that their little ones are safe and sound. To learn more about Anna and to book a service, follow this link.
